Viewer is the second part of the Remote Utilities suite. It allows you to gain remote access to any computer with the Remote Utilities server installed on it. This connection can be made over your home network or the Internet. If the server computer is behind a router or firewall and you can't forward ports, there is a feature that you might like. It is called Internet ID. It assigns a number to the server computer which you can type in to access the remote computer. You don't even need to know the computer's IP address.

The viewer is the face of the remote access solution. The main window has a connection manager, which allows you to save multiple computers for an easier connection process. On the right side of the screen is the Modes pane. All the features that you can use are there: for example, you can choose to fully control a machine or to limit your access to viewing only. There is a file transfer utility, a chat window, and a shutdown manager. You can also access remote computer's task manager, command line prompt, device manager, and register. From the Server app, you can disable any of these modes for added security.

In my testing, I set up both the server and viewer apps on two different machines on my home network. The only tweaking that I did was to add a password, which was a requirement. After both applications were installed, I could easily connect and control the remote computer. The security settings were very good and I like that there is an IP filter feature.
